Have you ever gone through something that really affected you?  Sure, we all have.  Some, well all really, experiences or events require some sort of rehab & recovery — and that’s perfectly fine.   It is nothing to be ashamed of from start to finish.  Whether it is inpatient or outpatient, is one of the differences.  I’ve been through traumatic things in life where I’ve needed counseling and therapy.  Personally, I feel it is extremely helpful, eye-opening and rewarding.  It is also very healthy in my opinion no matter the reason you need it.

One thing I’ve not been through, but support the treatment of, is going to or being part of a drug treatment center or drug rehab therapy.

Something I think we can all agree on is the use of music for therapeutic reasons.  Whether it’s been a stressful moment or I need to concentrate, I will most often turn on some music.  My favorite internet stations, a CD in the car or just play some music on one of the many satellite channels from my tv service.  It will either calm me, lift me up, get me out of a depressive funk I am known to go through or make me smile because it is a familiar song with a wonderful memory.

I have such an eclectic taste in music.  I love artists from Etta James to Carly Simon, Lady Gaga to Carrie Underwood, Bruno Mars to Miranda Lambert ~ It doesn’t matter what genre it falls in or who the artist is or how long they’ve been in the biz.  If I like it, I will listen to it.

It’s about what music or lyrics move you.  What the words mean to you and how the melodies make you feel.

No matter what you’ve been through or what you may face, don’t hesitate to reach for that CD or radio dial.  You may be surprised at how it makes you feel.  Remember you’re not alone.  Don’t be afraid to talk to someone or reach out to friends, family or professional help.
