Summer is officially here!  Some days it felt like it already was according to the heat and humidity, but now we can say it really is.  With school done for the year, kids are home and moms, dads, baby sitters, grandparents and caregivers will be trying to find things to do and fill in the blocks of time with fun activities.

With all of the electronics and more indoor activities, it can be somewhat difficult to coax kids outside.  With that said, International Play Equipment Manufacturers Association (IPEMA) and the Voice of Play want to encourage kids and parents to get outside to enjoy activities and ideas together.

What better way to do this than by celebrating the beginning of summer with a trip to the local playground?   What a great way to kick off summer!!

The Voice of Play is an education and advocacy initiative of the non-profit membership association, IPEMA, formed to educate and promote the benefits of children’s free outdoor play and playgrounds. Through the Voice of Play website and social media properties, IPEMA highlights the scientifically proven physical, social, emotional and cognitive benefits of play.

Even though we do have a swingset and other fun things to do outside at home, sometimes there’s nothing like going to the local park or playground for a change of scenery.  It can really be fun for my children, as well as my husband and myself.

What’s your favorite outdoor activity?
