Homemade Slow Cooker Applesauce

Remember when I said I bought way too many apples at the pumpkin farm?  Well, none went to waste so I suppose it wasn’t too many.  It just seemed like a lot when you have picky children and a husband who doesn’t see the benefits of fruits and vegetables.  Guess who gets to eat them all or at least try to make them into things that the family won’t complain about?  Yup, me.

I had about 8 apples left and wanted to try to make homemade slow cooker applesauce for the first time in my life.  Can I just tell you how amazing my house smells right now?!  The delicious Cortland apples, cinnamon & sugar aroma is just flowing through each room.

To get this delicious fall or anytime dish and aroma wafting through your home, just follow the easy instructions and enjoy!

  • 8 apples – peeled, cored and chopped. {I used Cortland.  There’s no wrong or right.  Use what you love or have on hand.}
  • 1/4 cup apple juice
  • 1-2 teaspoons cinnamon & sugar (optional)

  1. Put apples, juice and cinnamon & sugar into slow cooker.
  2. Cover & cook on low for 3-4 hours.
  3. Break down (mash) with a potato masher for chunky style applesauce.  Use a blender, pulsing gently and sporadically for a smoother applesauce.  {We don’t have to be fancy here at Jenn Unplugged!  Whatever gets the job done.  🙂 }
  4. Enjoy!!
